BACOLOD City – In celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month this March, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in this city is still accepting entries for this year’s Laragway sang mga Kababayehan: Women in Portraits competition.
With the theme “Babaye sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, the celebration kicked off on March 5 and will run until March 28. The said competition aims to highlight the role of women in various sectors.
The competition is open to all individuals regardless of age or background. Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry on or before March 10 at 5 p.m.
Artwork specifications of the entries may be in any form of medium, including photography, canvas art, oil pastel, painting, watercolor, and digital art.
DILG-Bacolod City director Christian Nagaynay said the artwork must align with the National Women’s Month theme, portraying the empowerment, resilience, and contributions of women in various sectors of society.
Participants must either submit their entries physically in the DILG-Bacolod City office at 2nd Floor, Negros First CyberCentre IT and BPO Hub, or through the google form:bit.ly/2025-Laragway-Submission.
Meanwhile, the city government yesterday launched its National Women’s Month celebration at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
Councilor Celia Flor, vice chairperson of the Gender and Development Council (GADC), said this year’s focus will continue to support the administration’s brand of governance and leadership, aligning with its rallying cry for an all-inclusive plan for economic and social transformation.
The phrase “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas” embodies a sense of optimism and hope, symbolizing a future where women’s lives are truly uplifted.
It reflects the commitment to translating gender equality efforts from policy into tangible, meaningful changes in the lives of women, Flor added.
This vision seeks to ensure that all women, particularly those from underserved communities and marginalized sectors, reap the benefits of gender equality in their daily lives.
Earlier, the City Council approved Resolution No. 15 series of 2025 enjoining city government employees to wear purple every Wednesday of March to symbolize solidarity with women empowerment and gender equality./PN
