WESTERN Visayas’ secondary and tertiary squads bagged five gold medals at the start of the PRISAA 2018 National Games in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The Blue Barons captured three golds in athletics at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex on Monday courtesy of Kim Villaruz in secondary girls 3,000-meter run and Michael Manaay in 110-meter hurdles tertiary men.
Ara Rahbea Delatova also topped the secondary girls 100-meter hurdles but is still awaiting for the official results from the organizers due to breasting in the finish line of the finals.
Western Visayas also got a silver medal courtesy of Godwin Tulio in secondary boys 110-meter hurdles while Renzy Gemolaga contributed a bronze medal in the men’s shot put.
Yesterday morning, Western Visayas tracksters added two bronze medals courtesy of Negrenses Franz Gela Romualdo Bintad and May Therese Gula in secondary girls javelin throw and 800-meter run, respectively.
The region also nabbed two gold medals in lawn tennis at the Holy Name University courtesy of secondary boys’ John Benedict Santiago, Nikhel Nowlakha, John Dreve Jemenia, and Marco Macalintal.
The other gold medal was courtesy of secondary girls team events’ Althea Rose Martinez, Riza Ann Cubos, Avril Andrea Sauce, and Stephanie Crisosto.
The tertiary women’s and men’s events settled for silver and bronze medal, respectively.
In dance sports at the Bohol Cultural Center, the pair of Mico Andrei Hechanova and Aleia Robbyn Muyco claimed the gold medal in the Latin American category.
Lucas Gerard Arañador and Ingrid Denise Parangan settled for a silver medal in dance sport modern standard./PN
