WV-based taekwondo jins show off skills in online tourney

MANILA – Two Western Visayas-based taekwondo squads dominated the recently held Smart/MVPSF Asian Open Online Taekwondo Poomsae & Speed Kicking Championships.

Iloilo City’s A. Diasnes Gym amassed 15 gold, 15 silver, and 13 bronze medals, with Seth Ryan Templanza and Kian Ezekiel Castigador winning two golds in poomsae and speed kicking.

Alfie Diasnes, meanwhile, notched gold in speed kicking and silver in poomsae; Jesseray Lucas Frantilla topped the speed kicking and bagged bronze in poomsae; and Kasimira Consular was gold medal awardee in poomsae and bronze medalist in speed kicking.

Cindy Joy Diasnes scored two silvers in poomsae and speed kicking, while Crizzel Jhanin Ahmed and Rojohn dela Cruz earned silver in poomsae and bronze in speed kicking.

The jins continued to dominate the poomsae tournament, with Elizabeth Borres and Margareth Anne Aguana getting gold medals. Aryan Rangas, Mariel Siscar, Almar Diasnes, Justine Diasnes, and Lansil Brotarlo settled for silver medals, while Francesca Agulto, Markishi Ting, Franz Fernandez, and Janus Tacsagon finished with bronze.

In speed kicking, Sheriemei Anne Hojilla, Maria April Joy Muyuela, Heleana Dulzen Grace Donton, Bill Donton III, Albery Gabrielle Caguicla, and Ayenne Quialquial harvested gold medals. Adding silver medals to the team were Adriano Horlador III, Rufino Barrato, Aldriene Horlador, Aron Aquidado, and Gabrielle Dacumos. The bronze medal winners were Ehyan Talabucon, Trecian Hernia, Arsie Sacapaño, Zion Guinez, and Jan Andrew Gancero.

On the other hand, Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers New Gen bagged 10 gold, 13 silver, and 10 bronze medals from the online competition.

Taking home gold medals in speed kicking were Leigh Andee Rodriguez, Arthur Diaz, EJ Aliñar, Jeric Paiwas, Manuel Eduardo III Machado, Wynnona Chavez, Julian Ignatius Sabay, and Cypher Rojas.

Julio Miguel Zapata, Kenjie Aunzo, Cydric Johnrod Rojas, Christophe Terence Avanceña, Francine Launio, Christelle Therese Avanceña, and Paulo Lopez notched silver medals, while Alexander Josef Marañon, Cipriano IV Lumanog, and Cyrah Marie Rojas were bronze medal awardees.

In poomsae, Ceanne Kyle Rosquillo, Cyan James Rojas went home with gold, while Diaz, Aunzo, Aliñar, JamieHannah Agaloos, Christophe Avanceña, and Christelle Avanceña grabbed the silver medals. Paiwas, Machado, Rojas, Sabay, Chavez, and Marañon ended with bronze medals./PN
