EIGHT Bacolodnon and one Ilonggo student were among the 13 chosen to advance to National Training Camp in Manila during the Visayas leg of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA 2019 Regional Selection Camp at the St. Louis of Don Bosco in Dumaguete City.
Bacolod Tay Tung High School’s John Ordas, Heinzy Gabriel Demisana and Mike Estelloso, Allan Joseph Banas of University of St. La Salle and Erlance Pedrita of St. Robert’s International Academy were among the seven chosen to be Visayas’ JR NBA representative in the National Camp.
Others chosen to represent Visayas are Zhan Paolo Moreno of Xavier University Junior High School and Rod Robert Robins Jr. of the PAREF Springdale School.
Bacolodnons selected in Jr. WNBA were Jaira Dela Cruz of Bacolod City National High School, Mary Rose Dugenio of La Consolacion College Bacolod and Gin Kayla Relliquete of USLS.
Other Visayas representatives in the Jr. WNBA were Cristel Diane Abule and Nicole Olores of the La Libertad Technical Vocational School and Keisha Malanay of Negros Oriental High School.
The Visayas leg selected athletes, who will join campers from other regional selection camps, excelled in a combination of basketball activities and competition and demonstrated the core values of the game throughout the camp.
Jr. NBA Philippines All-Stars – comprised of as many as five boys and five girls – will join the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp, a week-long camp in June that includes top youth players from the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, the Asia-Pacific regional competition will send the 2019 batch of Jr. NBA All-Stars to represent the region at the Jr. NBA Global Championship on Aug. 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.
The international event will showcase talented youth from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, China, Mexico, Africa, India and the Asia-Pacific./PN
