WV cops placing bets in cockpits warned

ILOILO City – Police personnel in Western Visayas are being warned against gambling in public places, particularly placing bets in cockpits.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), reminded his men to refrain from entering cockpits.

Wanky received reports that there were police personnel seen inside the cockpits.

Bal-an na sang mga pulis nga bawal gid sila sa bulangan kag bawal man sila magsugal sa mga public places. Kay indi manami nga makita sila sang mga civilians,” Wanky said.

The region’s top cop said that those who will defy his order will face administrative sanction.

He added that police officers are also banned from entering bars or beer houses.

Bawal man ang mga pulis sa mga beer houses kag iban pa nga ilimnan kay law-ay gid lantawon. I would like to remind them nga pwede sila ma-video-han. Basta illegal indi gid dapat ang mga pulis mag-involve,” Wanky said.

Upon his assumption into office, Wanky emphasized that among his focus is the campaign against illegal gambling.

He has earlier issued a stern warning to police personnel in the region who are allegedly protecting illegal gambling activities.

Wanky ordered all city and provincial police directors to wipe out illegal gambling, especially the “bookies,” through the formation of a task group focused on the campaign./PN
