ILOILO – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) recorded 313 crime incidents during this year’s Holy Week in Western Visayas – an 8.74 percent drop from the 343 cases recorded in the same period last year.
Of the 313, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office logged 91 crime incidents, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with 61, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (55), Capiz Police Provincial Office (36), Aklan Police Provincial Office (27), Antique Police Provincial Office (23), Bacolod City Police Office (12), and Guimaras Police Provincial Office (eight).
The PRO-6 recorded 24 cases of eight “focus crimes” during the Holy Week – 55.55 percent lower than the 54 cases registered in the same period in 2022.
The eight focus crimes were robbery, theft, homicide, murder, carnapping of vehicles, carnapping of motorcycles, rape, and physical injury.
Police Brigadier General Leo M. Francisco, director of the PRO-6, cited the unity of the Philippine National Police, other law enforcement agencies and force multipliers, as well as the cooperation of the public for the decline in crime incidents.
“Sana ay magpatuloy po ang ganitong sistema kahit tapos na ang Semana Santa, ‘yung mas mapababa pa natin at tuluyang mawala ang kriminalidad sa ating rehiyon. Umaasa po ako na sa patuloy na pagtutulungan ng lahat ay maaabot natin ang ating hinahangad na katiwasayan, kapayapaan at isang maunlad na pamayanan,” said Francisco./PN
