WV elem booters blank Region 9 in Pre-Palaro meet

CEBU City – Western Visayas elementary boys football team cruised to a 12-0 beating of Region 9 in the Cluster 3 Pre-Palarong Pambansa Qualifying Meet on Friday at the Don Bosco Technological College here.

Alfin Bayotas spearheaded the offense for the WV elementary booters with four goals, including the first three conversions of the match, while Drystan Alexandrae Delgado-Torres chipped in two conversions.

Finishing with one goal each for WV team were Kurt Arnel Deoduco, Jhon Army Condino, Nathan Howard Caligdong, Bryan Ejar, Gian Michael Porras and Vinz Kyru Bragancia.

The WV elementary booters, which is composed of players from Barotac Nuevo Comprehensive Elementary School, will wrap up their round-robin match against Region 8 at 8:30 am today.

Currently, the Western Visayas elementary booters have four points in the competition on one victory and a draw and will need at top-two finish to secure a seat in Palarong Pambansa in Marikina City.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas’ elementary and secondary girls volleyball team, both composed of players from Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts, have sealed their place in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa in Marikina City.

The WV elementary girls volleyball team reached the championship round after winning all of their matches in lopsided fashion at the University of Southern Philippines Gymnasium here.

The Roberto Calamba Jr.-mentored volleybelles secured their second win at the expense of Region 8, 25-10, 25-12, on late Thursday before pulling off a 25-19, 25-14 sweep of Region 9 on Friday.

The WV secondary girls volleyball team of head coach Ian Macariola also secured their return trip to the Palarong Pambansa as they keep their unbeaten record in the preliminary round.

The Thunderbolts punched a ticket to the championship round following a 25-17, 25-7, 25-12 straight set domination over Region 8 on Thursday and 25-20, 25-6, 26-24 beating of Region 7 on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Western Visayas secondary boys 3×3 basketball team also secured a seat to Palarong Pambansa after winning two of their three matches.

The WV squad is composed of players from Bacolod Tay Tung High School namely Dylan Despi, Marvin delos Santos, Vince Hugo and Joshua Dignadice./PN
