WV Kadiwa stores post P800K in sales

ILOILO City – Since its launching on Monday, July 17, Kadiwa ng Pangulo (Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita) stores in various provinces of Western Visayas were able to generate over P806,000 so far.

Data from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 6 showed the Kadiwa in Aklan generating over P160,000; Antique, over P225,000; Capiz, over P174,000; Guimaras, over P30,000; Iloilo, over P90,000; and Negros Occidental, over P128,000.

In Aklan, there were 10 participants including two basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPC) distributors; eight micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs); and 33 individuals selling agricultural products.

In Antique, 21 participated including one retailer and 20 MSMEs, while Capiz had 51 participants (seven BNPC distributors and 44 MSMEs assisted by the Department of Trade and Industry, DA/Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office.

Guimaras, on the other hand, had eight participants composed of four MSMEs, three BNPC retailers and one distributor while Iloilo has 37 exhibitors including 14 MSMEs.

For Negros Occidental, there were two key participants – an MSME and a BNPC representative.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo was initiated by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to bring fresh produce and other local products closer to consumers at a lower price and also serve as a market avenue or platform for local producers./PN
