SAN JOSE, Antique – The Paralympians of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) made their presence felt in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa Para Games with impressive finishes on Tuesday.

The WVRAA bets are fifth place in the Para Games medal tally as of Tuesday with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals behind Region IV-A, Region X, Region XI and NCRAA.

The lone gold medalist is Ilonggo Rocky Polimar, who boasts a 9.35 meters showing in the below 15 boy’s shotput. Finishing behind Polimar is WVRAA teammate Angelo Saso with 9.28 meters.

Also with silver medal for the WVRAA team is Rodel Diaz, who fell short in the T-13 Visually Impaired (VI) boy’s long jump, and Angelica Barcelona, in girl’s 16 and above shot put.

Meanwhile the Bronze medalists are Ronilo Fabiana in the boy’s 16 and above shot put and Jerelyn Dela Cruz, who finish behind Barcelona in the girl’s 16 and above shotput event.

The Negros Island Region Athletic Association (NIRAA), on the other hand, is currently at ninth place in the medal tally with two silver and three bronze medals.

Silver medalist for the NIRAA para-athletes are Ailyn Pacino in the T-3 VI girl’s shot put and Edmi Bar of boy’s shot put (OH).

Bronze medalist are Edgardo Amisola Jr. (T-2 VI shot put and T-2 VI long jump) and Gelo Diamo (T-2 VI boy’s shot put)./PN
