ROXAS City – The regional police director in Western Visayas has reminded his personnel to take good care of their health.
Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan on March 23 said that the police, who are among the frontliners in the fight to suppress the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019, are also at risk of the virus while performing their functions in ensuring peace and order.
“Please take good care of your health and still continue working for the safety of the people of Western Visayas,” Pamuspusan said.
He added: “I’m sure na ang ginagawa natin ay para sa kabutihan ng nakararami, so tayo ay kailangan magsakripisyo. Ituloy-tuloy lang natin ang ating trabaho.”
Pamuspusan appealed to the policemen to have the patience since no one knows when the COVID-19 outbreak will end.
He also urged the cops in this region to report to their respective immediate or higher officers if they are not feeling well or should they have identified that their colleagues have manifested signs and symptoms of the virus.
“Huwag tayong mag hesitate na mag-report at huwag tayong magtago if alam natin na tayong mga frontliners ang the ones na exposed sa disease,”Pamuspusan stressed.
According to him, he has not received any reports about policemen that have manifested signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
“However in areas with confirmed cases,
we are trying to restrict the movements of police,” he added.
As part of the police’s prevention measures against the spread of the virus,
they continuously disinfect their offices.
Meanwhile, all protocols in conducting checkpoints in the borders of Western Visayas were all orderly placed.
“There were no problems encountered especially in the borders as there is a smooth and continuous food delivery, except for a glitch at first at the port. It was, however, immediately corrected,” Pamuspusan said.
“As to peace and order in the communities, police have recorded minimal cases and they are manageable,” he added.
Pamuspusan still conducts inspection in the various provinces of Western Visayas to ensure that the directives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police in ensuring peace and orderliness are being followed.(With a report from PIA/PN)
