ILOILO City – Western Visayas set a new record for single-day increase in the number of persons to survive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
There were 150 new patients given a clean bill of health on Wednesday, according Dr. Jocelyn Te, spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6.
The previous record high was 63 posted on July 17.
The new figures pushed the region’s recovery count to 1,703.
These 1,703 recoveries were 45.5 percent of the 3,738 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region based on the Aug. 26 data of DOH-6
Here’s the breakdown of 63 cases to have successfully beaten SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19:
* Bacolod City – 133
* Iloilo Province – 11
* Iloilo City – 3
* Antique – 1
* Guimaras – 1
* Negros Occidental – 1
Meanwhile, the region also recorded 87 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 3,738 – 1,980 of which were active.
The provinces of Aklan, Antique and Guimaras logged no COVID-19 cases yesterday while Capiz has two, Iloilo province, six; Iloilo City, eight; Negros Occidental, 26; and Bacolod City, 45.
Of the 78 new infections, five of them were Returning Overseas Filipinos while 82 were local cases.
Te said no additional death was also recorded in the region, adding the total still sits at 55./PN
