WVPRISAA tertiary volleyball teams cruised to a winning start in the PRISAA 2019 National Games on Monday at the University of Mindanao-Matina Campus in Davao City.

In the tertiary women’s event, the WVPRISAA squad, represented by Central Philippine University Golden Lions, scored a 25-10, 25-12, 25-12 straight-set domination over the Central Luzon.

The WVPRISAA tertiary men’s volleyball team, also represented by CPU Golden Lions squad, had a great start to its campaign too as it dominated Region 3, 25-11, 25-16, 25-18.

Meanwhile, WVPRISAA secondary girls volleyball team, represented by Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts, kicked off its title-retention bid with an easy 25-6, 25-18 victory over Region 12.

“It was a good team effort and we are also fortunate that the girls was able to bring their A game despite having a jet lag because we just arrived here late Sunday and we got the first match of the day,” said WVPRISAA assistant coach Roberto Calamba.

The WVPRISAA will return to action this morning against Region 9 before capping off its Group A matches against Region 5 on Wednesday and Region 11 on Thursday./PN
