NOPSSCEA stamped its class on regional rival ILOPRISAA by bagging the Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet 2019 men’s tertiary and secondary football titles in Bacolod City.

NOPSSCEA completed its title retention bid in the tertiary men’s football event after a 5-0 domination over the ILOPRISAA in the one-sided do-or-die gold medal match on Tuesday.

The lopsided loss was a heartbreaker for the Ilonggos after having a chance to win the gold medal on Monday after taking a 1-0 lead but surrendered a late goal to the Negrenses to force the do-or-die match.

Meanwhile, the NOPSSCEA got a huge break on misses by ILOPRISAA in penalty shootout to escape with a 4-3 victory and successfully retained its championship in the secondary boys football.

Not only in football, the NOPSSCEA was also able to defeat the ILOPRISAA in the secondary girls beach volleyball finals but the Ilonggos edged the Negrenses in secondary boys beach volleyball.

Led by Bea Louise Gapusan, Lorien Gamboa and Julianne Javelosa, the NOPSSCEA defeated the ILOPRISAA – composed of Cris Ann Susbilla, Sheena Faldas, Kristine Ancheta and Rovy Amuan – in the finals.

“It was a total team effort for us here in WVPRISAA,” Gapusan said. “We are just blessed to be able to survive a huge challenge from ILOPRISAA since they are a formidable team as well.”
