WV’s Dellariarte bags 2 golds in Nat’l SCUAA

MANILA – Stephine Dellariarte captured two golds for Western Visayas in the National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (NSCUAA) Meet 2023 on Monday at the New Clark City Athletic Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.

Dellariarte, a standout of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), netted his two gold medals in the men’s 5,000-meter run and in the men’s 3,000-kilometer steeplechase.

Dellariarte capped off his National SCUAA campaign on Tuesday morning with a silver medal in the men’s 10,000 long distance run after being outsprinted by the runner from Region 3.

Rodela Aros of University of Antique also contributed two medals — a gold medal in the women’s triple jump with 11.23 meters and a silver medal in the women’s low hurdles — to Region 6.

Lloyd Rendon Bacalto of the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology came up with a gold medal in men’s triple jump, while schoolmate Justine Franco captured the gold in javelin throw event

Carla Meishien Lucero of Capiz State University bagged a gold medal in the women’s 100-meter run, while Daisy Mae Bernesto of the University of Antique ruled the women’s long jump event with a 5.24 meters jumping record.

Meanwhile, the Western Visayas Swimming Team also made their presence felt with two golds, five silvers, and one bronze medal at the New Clark City Aquatic Center.

Moses Oliver Bito-onon from West Visayas State University anchored the gold medal haul for Region 6 as he ruled the men’s 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke before settling for silver in 50-meter freestyle.

Bito-onon together with his brother, Martin Alphonse Bito-onon, ISUFST’s Dion Henrick Dapat, and ISAT-U Kervin Dinzon ended up with silver medals in 4×50 meters medley relay.

The Western Visayas-based tanker also contributed a bronze medal courtesy of Vhee Junnyne Militar of West Visayas State University in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke event.

After two days of National SCUAA competition, the Western Visyas-based athletes now have nine golds, two silvers and a bronze medal./PN
