WV’s newest COVID-19 case from Anilao, Iloilo

ILOILO – A recently-returned resident of Anilao town here is Western Visayas’ latest confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This 39-year-old male or the region’s Patient No. 115 is asymptomatic and is being quarantined, according to Dr. Jessie Glen Alonsabe, epidemiologist of the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6, yesterday.

Patient No. 115, who worked in Spain, returned to Anilao in early March. He flew to Metro Manila to process some papers and got stuck there due to the community quarantine imposed beginning March 17.

With the help of the Iloilo provincial government, he managed to return to Anilao on the last week of May.

He is Anilao’s first COVID-19 case.

According to Alonsabe, Iloilo province currently has only two active cases left because 15 already recovered and four others died (for a total of 21 cases).

The two remaining active cases were the following:

* 55-year-old from Igbaras (Patient No. 114)

* 34-year-old male from Alimodian (Patient No. 103)

Meanwhile, of the region’s 115 cases, three more recovered recently, bringing the total cases to have overcome the disease at 84.

The three were a 32-year-old male from Pandan, Antique (Patient No. 50); 32-year-old female from Pandan, Antique (Patient No. 52) and 33-year-old male from Roxas City (Patient No. 105).

* Antique – 14

* Capiz – six

* Guimaras – zero

* Iloilo province – 21

* Negros Occidental – three

* Bacolod City – 10

* Iloilo City – 15
