TALISAY City – West Visayas State
University (WVSU) clinched the crown of the women’s basketball during the 2020
Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA) Meet.
WVSU captured the women’s basketball championship following a 52-51 escape over
Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College behind the game winning shot of
Camille Limotao.
Prior to the endgame heroics of Limotao, it was Charm Talamor who fueled WVSU’s
offense in the gold medal match.
Meanwhile, the WVSU Women’s Beach Volleyball settled for a bronze finish after
venting revenge on Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in their battle for
third showdown.
In the elimination round, WVSU posted wins over Northern Negros State College
of Science and Technology, Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College and Aklan
State University before losing to Carlos Hilado. WVSU was also defeated by
Guimaras in the semifinals bout.
The WVSU women’s beach volleyball team
were led by Gazelle Baloyo and Salva Mae Geronca and mentored by Genesis
Camarista and Christian Loberas.
Prior to these victories, WVSU triumphed in the taekwondo events after notching
their sixth consecutive overall championship, while they also gunned for their
six straight overall victory in women’s arnis./PN
