THE biggest trail running event in the Philippines comes to Panay Island.
Veteran trail runner Atty. Aldean Philip Lim and the staff of Salomon Iloilo officially announced on Aug. 21 the upcoming Salomon X-Trail Run 2018 Iloilo: Run the Path of Most Resistance.
“X-Trail is the biggest trail running event in the country right now,” said Lim.
Lim said there are three X-Trail events across the Philippines, one each in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. X-Trail in Visayas will be held in the municipality of Miagao in Iloilo province on Sept. 16.
Organizers created five different trail race categories, each with varying distances and features.
But all five categories are loop courses that start and end at the University of the Philippines Miagao campus, Lim said.
Advanced courses include climbing local mountains while simpler ones involve short distances.
Salomon endorses the mountain run category, which is much more technical and involves more climbing.
“We’ve prepared a beautiful course this year, and it’s really challenging. It will really test your limits,” said Lim. Add to that the “backdrop of a really beautiful course in Miagao.”
Lim joined X-Trail when it was first held in 2010. Salomon eventually recruited Lim to represent its brand in various trail races, particularly X-Trail.
Registrations for X-Trail will be until Sept. 10. Those interested may either register online through www.salomonxtrailpilipinas.com.ph or visit Salomon at SM City Iloilo./PN
