MANILA – Negrense James Yap hopes that his tried and tested partnership with import Denzel Bowles will bring the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters its third PBA championship in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Escalante City, Negros Occidental native admitted that while their goal is a tough one, he believes that the Painters have the tools to make it all the way in the import-laden conference.

“It will be a lot different now, but Denzel and I have the same goal of winning and leading our team to the PBA Commissioner’s Cup,” Yap said in an interview during the Usapang Sports” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS).

Yap added that the Painters were much more determined to dominate the Commissioner’s Cup after a tough semifinals loss to Magnolia Hotshots in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.

“The Painters have a lot of work to do here in PBA Commissioner’s Cup but we are determine to redeem ourselves from our loss in the Philippine Cup,” said the two-time PBA MVP.

Bowles, for his part, said that he was delighted to have a chance to play again in the PBA and with Yap after his forgetful sting with TNT KaTropa before where he was send home even before the conference started.

“I’m happy to play here in PBA and with (Yap) again,” said Bowles, a former PBA Best Import of the Conference awardee.

Yap and Bowles first teamed up seven years ago at B-Meg Llamados (now Hotshots) and have resulted in 2012 PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown, where they defeated  KaTropa in seven games./PN
