“YELLOW Rose,” an American movie musical starring Eva Noblezada, will be the opening film of the 35th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF).
The screening will be held on May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles.
Directed by Diane Paragas, the movie tells the story of Rose, a 17-year-old Filipino-American girl who dreams of becoming a country music star.
Noblezada plays Rose, while the Fil-Am teen’s aunt is played by Lea Salonga. Other stars of “Yellow Rose” include Liam Booth, Gustavo Gomez, Libby Villari, and Princess Punzalan.
“I am so humbled that our film has been chosen for this honor,” Paragas was quoted by Deadline.com and LAtfUSA.com.
“’Yellow Rose’ has taken over 15 years to make and it couldn’t come at a more important time when anti-immigrant sentiment is at an all-time high. This is a story for everyone facing challenges in finding their voice, their dreams and, more importantly, their home,” she added.
The LAAPFF runs from May 2 to 10, with film screenings in Little Tokyo and L.A. Live Entertainment Center. (ABS-CBN News)
