Young Ilonggo booters gird for fierce competition in Singa Cup

ILOILO City – Ten young Ilonggo football players from the Ilonggo Young Booters Football Club, beefed up by five outstanding U-16 national players, are set to compete in the 2016 Singa Cup to be held in Singapore from Nov. 7 to 11.
The team is being trained by national coach Michael Castaños and assistant coach Rene Sencio in Barotac Nuevo.
The nine young Ilonggo booters are James Zachary Justalero, Carlo Enrico Najarila, Joshua Cleve Dumdum, Roque Empleo Jr., Axel Andres, Jet Anthony Ireneo, Ramiel Angelo Galindo, Paolo Agmer Andrada, Jose Francis Espinosa and Ronnie Panes.
Providing additional firepower to the group are members of the national under-16 football team who had already been exposed to international arena. They are Andrew Tavarro, Christian Penalosa, Joseph Sherwyn dela Victoria, Al Christler dela Cruz, and Jericho Sinconiegue.
As of press time, the team has been scheduled to face Australia Underdale High school and the Philippines Football Funatics on Nov. 7. They will be squaring off with YFH Phuket of Thailand on Nov. 8, and Football Talents- Asia of Malaysia on the succeeding days. A total of 15 teams are set to compete in the event.
The Ilonggo Young Booters Football Club is joining the said competition not only for international exposure but also to bring pride to the Ilonggo community, which has expressed pride and support for the team.
The Singa Cup is one of the most prestigious youth football events in the world. It is participated in by many of the strong football clubs from Asia and Europe./PN
