KALIBO, Aklan – Juris Bautista Sucro will take his oath as mayor of the capital town of Kalibo today, over a month after his landslide electoral victory.

The 35-year old Sucro will become the youngest mayor in Kalibo’s history.

He was elected Kalibo councilor in 2016, and three years later he was elected provincial board member.

Sucro’s inauguration will take place at the historic Kalibo Pastrana Park starting at 5 p.m.

He got nearly 26,000 votes in the May 9 elections, easily defeating incumbent Mayor Emerson Lachica by 6,939 votes.

Kalibo vice mayor Dr. Cynthia Cerrada Dela Cruz, running mate of Sucro in the local political alliance Tibyog Akean, also dominated the election for vice mayor.
