MANILA – Davao Aguilas turned to Philip and James Younghusband as it scored a 3-0 victory over Global Cebu in the Philippines Football League at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Aguilas remained on second place with 11 points on five wins and two draws after the Sunday night match while Global was on the tail-end with one point on one draw and four losses.

Aguilas will aim for solo leadership in the standings when it faces defending champion Ceres Negros (12 points on 4-0-0 card) on Wednesday at the same venue.

Both teams had an exchange of misses early in the game – Global’s Rufino Sanchez miscalculated a header while Sungmin Kim’s header was defended by Patrick Deyto.

The Davao squad finally entered the scoring column in the 16th minute as Phil converted a penalty kick from a foul given by Global’s Wesley Dos Santos from inside the box.

Aguilas’ lead doubled early in the second half with James eluding the defense of Global for an easy inside hit.

James raised the lead to 3 a few minutes later with another inside-the-box hit.

It was the second encounter of Davao Aguilas and Global Cebu this season.

The first – on April 15 at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna – ended in a 2-2 draw./PN
