MANILA – Phil and James Younghusband are poised to lead the 24-man Philippine Azkals lineup when it faces Bahrain on Tuesday and North Korea on Oct.10 in their international friendly matches at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Aside from the Younghusbands, also in the team are veterans MisaghBahadoran, Kevin Ingreso, Ronald Muller, Patrick Deyto, Amani Aguinaldo, Daisuke Sato, Dennis Villanueva, Martin Steuble, and Manuel Ott.

Completing the lineup are Iain Ramsay, Kenshiro Daniels, Paolo Bugas, Jim Junior Munoz, Fitch Arboleda, Simon Greatwich, Stephan Schrock, Luke Woodland, Mike Ott, OJ Porteria, Nick O’Donnell, Daniel Gadia, and Dominic del Rosario.

According to the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), the two friendlies are tentatively set for 3:30 p.m. kickoffs but may be changed to 8 p.m. “depending on the progress of the installation of the floodlights at Rizal Memorial Stadium.”
The 125th-ranked Azkals are currently in the middle of preparations for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup group stages, which will be held in the country next month.

The Azkals has been bracketed in the tougher group of the tournament with defending champions Thailand, 2012 titlist Singapore and Indonesia, which is returning from a FIFA suspension.
Meanwhile, Group B is composed of Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam. The fourth team in the group will be the winner of the qualifying tournament between Brunei, Timor Leste, Cambodia, and Laos in Cambodia in October.
Only the top two teams from the Philippine group stage will move on to the semifinals against the top two teams from the Myanmar group stage./PN
