BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported a generally peaceful observance of “Fiesta Minatay”, with zero crime incidents recorded on November 1 (All Saints’ Day) and 2 (All Souls’ Day).
BCPO Public Information Officer Captain Ma. Liberty Indiape confirmed that no untoward incidents were reported, attributing the success to the thorough implementation of the city’s security plan.
Police and Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) personnel were deployed across 14 public and private cemeteries to ensure security and manage traffic flow.
Strict regulations were enforced at cemetery entrances, prohibiting deadly weapons, liquor, and gambling to maintain a safe environment.
Despite the peaceful celebration, two fire incidents were recorded on November 1.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported a fire around 7:40 p.m. in Purok Lemon Grass, Barangay Cabug, damaging a structure owned by Osalie Cuarte, with losses estimated at P60,000.
Another fire occurred around 8:20 p.m. in Barangay Sum-ag, destroying a house owned by Jhondel Aurelio, with damages valued at P6,250.
Initial investigations indicate that unattended candles caused both fires. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in either incident./PN
