ILOILO City – There were no reported untoward incidents during the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan celebration on Saturday, Jan. 21, according to the Site Task Group (STG) Dinagyang 2023 of the Iloilo City Police Office.
Police Captain Julieta Sequio, spokesperson of STG Dinagyang, said an estimated 20,000 people witnessed the Kasadyahan.
“Nagsugod ini ang aton Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan mga alas-otso sang aga kag natapos alas-12:40 sa hapon. We are grateful gid nga wala sang recorded incidents,” said Sequio.
The presence of the police, other law enforcement agencies and force multipliers was a big help in ensuring the safety of the revelers, Sequio added.
More than 7,000 security personnel were deployed across Iloilo City for the Dinagyang Festival.
Eight tribes competed in the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan: Tribu Jalaud from the municipality of Calinog; Tribu Miniluan from Talisay City, Negros Occidental; Tribu Tiringbanay from San Jose de Buenavista, Antique; Guban Manughaw-as sang Dumangas from Dumangas, Iloilo; Sipalay Burangoy Kite Festival from Sipalay City, Negros Occidental; Tribu Saludan from Tigbauan, Iloilo; Tribu Madia-as from Culasi, Antique; and Pasalamat Festival from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental./PN
