Indulge in sweetest mangoes in Guimaras’ ‘Mango Eat-All You-Can’

GUIMARAS – Are you ready for the “Mango Eat-All-You-Can”  – one of the sought-after activities of the annual Manggahan Festival of this island province?

This year’s Manggahan Festival will kick off on May 3 and will run until May 22.

The Mango Eat-All-You-Can event is set on May 3 to 5, May 10 to 12, and May 17 to 22 at the provincial capitol grounds in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan town.

For just P100 registration fee, one can consume an unlimited number of mangoes for 30 minutes.

The schedules for Mango Eat-All-You-Can:

For May 3  

* 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

For May 4 to 5, May 10 to 12, and May 17 to 22

* 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

* 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

* 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

* 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

* 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

* 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

* 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

* 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Here are the mechanics to experience Mango Eat-All-You-Can at the provincial capitol grounds in San Miguel, Jordan:

* Participants must observe minimum health standards for their own safety.

* The registration fee is P100 per participant. Children seven years old and above will pay full registration fee while six years old and below will pay 50 percent of the fee.

* There will be eight batches per day for regular schedule and each batch will have a duration of 30 minutes.

* Eating shall be done by bare hands. If the participants opt to use a knife, spoon or any aid in eating they should province one for themselves.

* The activity is strictly self-service. Participants can have additional servings by raising their hands and designated staff will provide them.

* Clean-as-you-go policy will be imposed. Disposing peelings and seeds at the designated collecting bins shall be practiced.

* Participants are not allowed to take out unconsumed mangoes.

Last year, the provincial government prepared around 10 tons of ripe mangoes for the Mango Eat-All-You-Can.

Other highlights of the festival are the Miss Guimaras Coronation Night on May 17 and street dance competition on May 22./PN
