CAPIZ – To curb illegal and unregulated fishing activities here and in view of the campaign against marine and coastal poachers, the provincial government has commissioned the members of the Provincial Bantay Dagat (PBD) – Task Force Yuhom on Nov. 10 in Sitio Mandulalaw, Barangay Barra, Roxas City.

Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro is also in consultation with the Capiz Police Provincial Office to arm PBD enforcers for their protection from possible harassment or assault by violators during operations.

“I am entrusting this document, which authorizes the Provincial Bantay Dagat to protect our coastal and marine resources,” said Castro during the symbolic giving of a mission order to the seaborne patrollers.

Capiz has a vast and rich fishing ground covering the coastal waters of Roxas City as well as Sapian, Ivisan, Panay, Pontevedra, President Roxas, and Pilar towns.

The activity concluded with the official deployment of the seaborne patrollers aboard the two new siren-sounding motorboats to carry out their mandate.  (PIA)/PN
