GUIMARAS – Medical services are now more accessible to Guimarasnons.

On Jan. 9 the provincial government of Guimaras accepted a sea ambulance equipped with a stretcher and life jackets from donors Weixiong Lin and Rose Nono Lin, facilitated by the office of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

A sea ambulance is necessary to transport medical patients referred to medical facilities in Iloilo City, as Guimaras is an island province.

Currently, the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH) in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan is the main hospital of the province; it caters to patients needing immediate medical attention.

Other patients, such as those needing special medical treatments and facilities, are referred to tertiary hospitals in Iloilo City. The donated sea ambulance will ensure the easy transport of patients even at night.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office temporarily oversees the sea ambulance./PN
