THROUGH the years Iloilo Mission Hospital continues to provide medical care to the Ilonggos. Established in 1901, known as Mission Hospital Dispensary, it started as a bamboo clinic and was built through the efforts of Dr. & Mrs. Joseph Andrew Hall, Presbyterian Missionary Doctor and Nurse.
From its humble beginning at Ledesma Street to Iznart Street, and now Mission Road, IMH continues to uphold its mission as a Christian hospital committed to serve the community in love through holistic healing, training and preaching ministries.
In pursuit of Iloilo Mission Hospital’s vision, mission and desire to continue providing excellent patient care, improvements are being done continually to cater the needs of its clientele. These have sustained the IMH’s vision of delivering quality patient care through committed, well-trained and caring hospital staff that touch lives with the love of God.
Iloilo Mission Hospital is a member institution of the Convention of the Philippine Baptist Churches. It has 261-bed capacity and serves as the clinical area for students in Medicine, Nursing, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Medical Social Work, Pharmacy, Nutrition and Dietetics and Chaplaincy Program. It has an accredited residency training program for Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family & Community Medicine and Surgery. It also accepts practicum training for Business and Information Technology.
To address the problem of lack of rooms and request for upgrading facilities and equipment by our consultants and clients, the construction of the seven-storey building was started on April 2018. This modern structure will accommodate the Operating Rooms, Central Supply Room and OB Complex in the 2nd and 3rd floors, 84 Private Patients’ Rooms in the 5th to 7th floors and various offices on the ground floor. Central Supply Room, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine Unit, Eye Ear Nose and Throat Unit, Satellite Pharmacy, Chemotherapy and Hematology Rooms, Hospice Room, Prayer Room, and Library in the 4th floor.
As the first nursing school in the Philippines which started in 1906, it is home to thousands of nurses whose values and competencies have been moulded according to the virtues of Christianity. It is the basis by IMH is known as a haven of caring people.
