ROXAS City – Phase 2 of the redevelopment of the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC) – the city’s public market – and People’s Park beautification are underway.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas recently met with Market Administrator Heloise Mendoza and OIC City Engineer Tony Amoroso to discuss Phase 2, particularly the market’s Dry Goods Section rehabilitation.
He also inspected market stalls.
The city government set up stall tents near the TATC where dry good vendors affected by the market rehabilitation can temporarily sell their products.
The first phase of market rehab involved the renovation of the fish section; it was officially inaugurated this March 2022.
Dadivas said TATC is more than 40 years old and already needs major repair to make it modern and conducive for both the vendors and market-goers.
Melvin Galagate, Roxas City Communications Group head and public information officer, said the city government is also planning to allot a space at TACT as bagsasakan area for howling of the products sold inside the market.
On the other hand, Galagate said the city will start the beautification and improvements of the People’s Park which is eyed to become a major attraction in the city.
The master plan and proposed design for the project was earlier presented by ITL Ignacio Architects led by Architect Maria Socorro Ignacio Traviña.
Included in the redevelopment plan is the improvement of food stalls / kiosks, seafood kamayan restaurants, children’s play park, and fountain, and among others./PN
