MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers beat Generika Ayala Lifesavers 25-18, 25-22, 25-13 toward a 2-0 start in the 2018 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Tuesday night at the San Juan Arena.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas led the way with 11 points, while Mary Remy Palma and Mika Reyes added 9 and 7 points, respectively, for the defending champions.

Dominant in every set, the Blaze Spikers surged to early leads before thwarting late runs from the Lifesavers – most prominently in the second frame.

Blaze Spikers head coach Ceseal delos Santos said they have avenged their loss to the Lifesavers during the elimination round of the Reinforced Conference.

“Especially for me, mabigat iyong nangyare sa amin. Sabi nga namin, ibang usapan na this time. Nag-prepare talaga kami. Good thing maganda iyong result. In-expect talaga namin na magiging magandang laban ito,” said delos Santos.

Fiola Ceballos finished with 12 points to lead the Lifesavers (0-2) while Patty Jane Orendain and Angeli Araneta had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, new-look Foton Tornadoes unleashed their attacking prowess to dominate Cignal HD Spikers 25-15, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20 for their second straight win in as many matches.

Christine Joy Rosario delivered 13 kills, two blocks and two aces to finish with 17 points, while Carmina Aganon tallied 14 hits for the Tornadoes, which hardly missed the presence of towering frontliners Jaja Santiago and Dindin Manabat.

Still in another match, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers also surged to a 2-0 start after taking down Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors 25-19, 25-20, 25-16. Mary Joy Baron had 14 markers for the Cargo Movers./PN
